Friday, June 5

This week, the Middle School enjoyed a variety of important year-end events while our Senior School students were busy writing exams.

We began with our Middle School Awards Assembly, which featured our Grade 8 Band and recognized students who held leadership positions this year, as well as those who earned their Ivy and Marguerite Awards through our Forum for Change program. These awards recognize students who have challenged themselves through experiences such as learning a new skill, staying physically active, contributing to their community, and stepping outside their comfort zone.

Students were also out and about across the city this week. Our Grade 7s enjoyed a Social Science excursion to Black Creek Pioneer Village, while our Grade 8s volunteered at nine different community organizations, supporting causes that were meaningful to them.

Later in the week, our Grade 7 Vocal class treated faculty and staff to a delightful mini-concert. Featuring several talented soloists, it was a welcome midday pause and a wonderful opportunity to celebrate their hard work and growth.

We wrapped up the week by celebrating the Class of 2030. Speaking on behalf of their peers, Hannah K. and Avery K. reflected on the dedication of their teachers, the spirit of the Middle School, and the friendships and experiences that have shaped their time here.

As we look ahead to final assessments, I am struck by how much our students have grown this year—not only academically, but as leaders, contributors, performers, and community members. June is always a special time in the Middle School as we celebrate these accomplishments while preparing for the next step in each student’s journey.

We hope students enjoy a restful weekend as they begin preparing for their final exams.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Cissy

June Report Cards

June report cards will be available for parents and students to access through the Veracross portal on Wednesday, June 17, at 9:00 am. June report cards represent the culmination of a student’s achievements, progress, and areas for growth in the academic year.

Partnership between Havergal and parents is key to student success. We encourage you to take time to review the report card, discuss it with your child, and identify any key themes or questions you might have. If you have any questions about specific courses, please reach out directly to the teacher; they are eager to partner with you.
Further information on how to access the report cards will be emailed next week. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Lam Nguyen, Dean of Academics.

Exam Viewing Date

The primary purpose of final assessments–scheduled at the end of the period of learning–is to summarize and convey what students know and can do with respect to the course’s overall curriculum expectations.

Final assessments–including exams–sometimes raise questions for students about their next steps on their learning journey. Havergal invites students to visit campus on Friday, June 19, from 8:30–10:30 am to review their exam(s) on a drop-in basis.

This optional opportunity will allow students to see their exam as feedback for their learning; it is not an opportunity to request a mark change. Should the teacher or student uncover any numerical exam errors, these will be referred to the Dean of Academics for resolution.

Students interested in exam viewing can find the drop-in location for each of their courses/exams below (Friday, June 19th, 8:30-10:30 am).

Submitting Your Child(ren)’s Health Information for 2026–27

Thank you to everyone who has submitted their child(ren)’s health forms in August Schools.

You can access August Schools using the Update My Child’s Health Information button on the Veracross Parent Portal. We ask that all health information be submitted by June 30 to help ensure we are prepared to support students when school resumes in September. If you have any questions or require assistance, please contact the Health Centre team. We are happy to help and support families throughout this transition.
