It was an energy-filled end to Senior School classes this week. As always, our Grads kept us on our toes with a few final harmless pranks that left us smiling (think balloon-filled hallways, upside-down furniture, and an announcement about ankle-length kilts!). We will certainly miss the Class of 2026’s enthusiasm, curiosity, and care for one another.
On Wednesday, our staff and faculty were treated to a wonderful appreciation social hosted by the HCPA, featuring delicious food (including homemade dumplings!), generous gifts, and a live DJ. We are lucky to be part of such a supportive community, and we deeply appreciate all the effort that went into making it such a lovely event.
As we wind down the school year and enter the exam period, we ask for your continued support in helping students maintain healthy routines around sleep, studying, movement, and restorative breaks.
Have a lovely weekend,
Krista, Cissy & Deirdre

Supporting Our Students: Addressing Vaping Together
At Havergal, the health and wellbeing of our students remain our top priorities. Like many schools, we continue to navigate the challenges associated with youth vaping. While there is no single solution, we are committed to addressing this issue through a combination of education, support, supervision, and partnership with students and families.
As we look ahead to the fall, we are strengthening our efforts in several key areas:
- Increasing staff presence in key areas across the school to support a healthy, respectful environment.
- Integrating targeted awareness and health education into our morning programming and continuing to address vaping through our Health and Physical Education curriculum.
- Making supportive literature and informational materials readily available to students and families who wish to learn more about the risks associated with vaping and available supports.
- Working closely with our Student Support Team, Wellbeing Prefect, Wellbeing Council, and senior student leaders to increase awareness, provide support, and develop student-informed strategies that promote healthy choices and a positive school culture.
Students seeking support to reduce or stop vaping are encouraged to connect with a trusted adult, guidance counsellor, nurse or social worker. Support is available, and we are committed to helping students make healthy choices.
Conversations about vaping can be challenging, but parental support makes a meaningful difference. To help you navigate this topic with your child, we encourage you to listen to this podcast by Lisa Damour, which offers practical, judgment-free suggestions for starting the conversation.
Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting the health, wellbeing, and success of our students.
Submitting Your Child(ren)’s Health Information for 2026 – 27
As part of our annual preparation for the upcoming school year, we ask all families to provide updated health information for their child(ren).
Beginning this year, Havergal College will be using August Schools, a new platform for managing student health information. After a thorough review of available systems, we believe August Schools will provide a more streamlined experience for families while enhancing our ability to support students’ physical and emotional wellbeing.
As part of this transition, families will be asked to resubmit their health information and any relevant health documents previously provided through Magnus Health. We recognize that this requires some additional effort, and we sincerely appreciate your patience and partnership as we make this change.
What to Expect
On Monday, June 1, families will receive an email with:
- Instructions for accessing August Schools through the Parent Portal
- Information about completing and submitting required health forms
- Helpful resources, including tips and troubleshooting guidance for navigating the new platform
We ask that all health information be submitted by Tuesday, June 30, to help ensure we are prepared to support students when school resumes in September.
Questions? If you have any questions or require assistance, please contact the Health Centre team. We are happy to help and support families throughout this transition.

Mandatory Grade 8 Service Day
On June 3rd, our Grade 8 class will embark on their first-ever external service day. As this is a core part of our experiential learning curriculum, full participation is mandatory for all Grade 8 students. Over the course of the year, students were asked what skills they possess that they feel would benefit our community. From there, they researched a variety of organizations that they would be interested in supporting. In the end, our students will support 10 different organizations, including Music for Every Child, Cancer Kids First, and the Toronto Wildlife Centre.
It has been a rich and rewarding journey watching our students transition from identifying their personal strengths to actively planning how to uplift others. We are incredibly proud of their leadership and look forward to seeing the positive impact they will make across our community next week. If you have not already done so, please complete the AAR form that was sent to you earlier this week. The link can be found here.

Senior School
June Exams
Exams for Grade 9–12 courses begin on Monday, June 1. The full exam schedule is available here.
Timing:
All Senior School exams are two hours in duration. Morning exams begin at 9:00 a.m. and afternoon exams begin at 1:00 p.m. Students should arrive 15 minutes before each exam and be dressed in their regular school uniform.
Location:
Standard-time exams will take place in the Double Gym. Students with accommodations will write their exams in B65/B66.
Illness:
If your child is ill on the day of an exam, please report their absence through the Parent Portal as you would on a regular school day. As a final summative evaluation is required to complete each Senior School course, medical documentation must be provided for any missed exam. Arrangements will then be made for the exam to be written at an alternate time and location. Please contact Jennifer Goldberg, Director of Academics, for more information.
Academic Integrity:
To ensure a fair testing environment, internet-connected devices—including smartphones, smartwatches, and smart glasses—are strictly prohibited during all exams, except where laptops are specifically permitted for exams administered using a secure browser. Students found in possession of a prohibited device during an exam will receive a grade of zero for that exam.
Calculator Check:
As many students will be writing exams simultaneously, please remind your child to bring their own calculator, if required. Calculators will not be available to borrow during the exam period.
Students are expected to remain available until all scheduled exams and any required make-up exams have been completed.
Grade 11 Parents: Register for Fall Camp, Sept 16-18
Students will take part in important university information sessions, begin unpacking their Core Strengths profile to learn more about themselves as leaders, and continue bonding as the Class of 2027.
There will be a short virtual parent information session on Tuesday, June 2, at 5:30 pm, which will be recorded, and the link will be available in the final edition of The Weekly. You can find the link to the Zoom call here.
