An Invitation to “Parents as Force Multipliers”: David Bott
Wellbeing Science Expert David Bott will be speaking to parents on Wednesday, March 29 ( 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm) in the Brenda Robson Hall. David Bott, an internationally known education consultant and expert in applied wellbeing science, will be our guest from March 27 – 31. David has worked with some of the world’s leading schools to help guide wellbeing vision and strategy. During his time at Havergal, David will be engaging with students, faculty and staff and delivering sessions that provide tactical strategies to support their wellbeing.
As part of this important work, David would also like to engage with parents on both the role of wellbeing in schools and how parents can enhance this important work. He will provide parents with practical tips and strategies to support their children’s wellbeing.
We hope you will be able to join us. Please RSVP here. Should you have any questions, please contact Ariana Ameree, Executive Assistant to the Deputy Principal, at 416-483-3519 ext. 6654, aameree@havergal.on.ca. Please note that light refreshments will be served from 6:30 pm – 7:00 pm.
Exam Preparation
Teachers will be working with students during April and May to help them prepare for their exams and final culminating assessments. Students will also learn exam preparation techniques in our Wednesday morning advising sessions. Some subjects have an exam, some have a culminating assessment and some have both. The dates for the culminating assessments will be determined by April 1st and posted to the Veracross Gradebook and will appear on student calendars. We ask that you do not book appointments or trips during the exam period.
It is important that students are in class for review periods and work periods as these are factored into the due dates for assessments. Teachers check in with students during these times and it is a good time for students to ask questions and seek direction if they are confused. Students with accommodations must see their learning support specialist before the end of April.
Students with exam conflicts should make an appointment to see their Guidance counsellor before the end of April. An exam conflict occurs when a student has:
- two or more exams scheduled at the same time;
- more than two exams scheduled on the same day;
- four or more exams scheduled on two consecutive weekdays;
- two or more exams scheduled on the same day for a student who has a documented learning support and/or guidance assessment accommodation;
- a school-sanctioned athletic tournament, provincial, national, or international competition;
- a documented extenuating circumstance.

Athletics
Please check the spring tryout schedule (which is linked below and can be found on Veracross) for your child’s first tryouts after the March break. It is important that your child emails the coach if they are missing a tryout. If your child misses a tryout without emailing the coach, we assume they are no longer interested in trying out for that sport. When you click on the link below, make sure you are looking at the third tab – “SPRING 2022-2023”. Spring 2022 -2023 Schedule
Please note – there is no reminder email of when specific tryouts take place. It is the responsibility of the students and parents to look at the schedule to know when and where the tryouts are occurring. Students show up to their tryout and coaches will take attendance. If you have any questions, please email Athletics Director, Carla Di Filippo
Expression of Interest in the Round Square International Conference (RSIC): due March 31

The theme for this conference is “The New Africa.” Havergal will be taking 5 students to this conference. To submit an expression of interest please click on this LINK.
University Campus Tours
On Tuesday, March 28, Grade 11 students will be visiting three universities – University of Waterloo, University of Guelph or McMaster University – for our Annual University Spring Tour. Students have chosen which of the three they would like to visit. Campus tours are a key part of the university selection process. During these tours, students will experience campus life and learn about different faculties, residences, and student services. The Guidance Department is excited to share this experience with the students and to share tips of what to look for and questions to ask when the students are touring other campuses with their family.
