UPPER SCHOOL

Please Update Your Daughter’s Health Records – June 1 to July 1

Please complete your child’s Vital Health Record and Student Health Tracker in the Magnus Health Portal to ensure the following information is accurate and updated: health history and conditions, allergies, history of concussions, dietary restrictions and administration of medications from Health Centre nurses. Parents are responsible for updating the school on any changes in your child’s health status throughout the year by updating information in the Magnus Health Portal. The Health Centre ensures that the health records of students in Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12 are accurately and confidentially stored. Accurate record-keeping helps keep students safe on- and off-site, and it relies on parents being diligent about updating their children’s health information and sharing it with the school.

We are asking that all parents conduct the year update before July 1, 2024. Access is available as of June 1, 2024. If you completed an update prior to June 1st, we apologise but you will need to re-submit your child’s Magnus profile.

Instructions to log into Magnus can be found here. Thank you for your assistance in ensuring that we have the necessary health information for your child to keep them healthy and safe while enrolled at Havergal.

Please reach out to the Health Centre with any questions or concerns.

June Exam Schedule

The exam schedule and additional supporting documents are available on the Parent Portal. Visit Upper School > Calendar & Schedules > June Exams.

Pick-up, Drop-off & Parking – Thank you for Your Cooperation!

Thank you for continuing to use the middle lane as a dedicated drive-through lane. You may use this drive-through lane to drop your student off in the north parking lot

When dropping off in the front circle, use only the east curb lane, ensuring that you pull your vehicle all the way to the end of the drive. Security will direct you on whether to exit through the circle or the north parking lot. Do not park in the west curb lane to drop off your child as it is dangerous for students to cross through the incoming drop off traffic.

Please continue to follow our security team’s directions for both entering and exiting the property.

Use of Personal Mobile Devices at Havergal College

There has been much attention to the use of cell phones and other devices in schools in recent months.

Havergal has always had a thoughtful approach regarding the use of devices in school, and we are carefully reviewing our current policies and practices. We will be communicating any updates to families and students in advance of the next school year.

Finally, we also invite you to listen to this episode of The Harvard Edcast, which provides you with some ideas for device usage over the summer.

Reminder: Signing In & Signing Out

Students who arrive late, or leave before the end of the school day, must have permission from a parent or guardian and must always sign in and out at the DSO.

Rules:

  • All students are expected to be at Havergal for the duration of the school day.
  • A student who needs to leave school early must provide parental permission through the Student Logistics Request tool in advance of departure. If a student is late for class they must get a late slip from the DSO.

When a student signs out prior to the end of the school day, they are required to leave the premises. When a student is marked for a late arrival, they may not be in the building for the time they are signed out. Further, when a student arrives late, they must sign in at the DSO as soon as possible. Students may not be in the school building when they are signed out because it compromises the accuracy of our attendance records and poses a serious risk in the event of an emergency.

Updated Pick-up & Drop-off Procedures for the Upper School

The school has allocated new resources to enact an efficient procedure for drop-off and pick-up of students.  During the morning drop-off, two guards will be stationed out front to direct traffic flow. The new arrangement will ensure a more controlled traffic flow.  Pylons will be placed along the west curb, to prevent unsafe drop-off practices. The middle lane will be a dedicated drive-through lane. You may use this drive-through lane to drop your student off in the parking lot. When dropping off in the front circle, use only the east curb lane, ensuring that you pull your vehicle all the way to the end of the drive. Security will direct you on whether to exit through the circle or the north parking lot.  Thank you for your patience as we work at ensuring your drop-off/pick-up experience is safe and expeditious.
