Summer Messages – Preparing for the 2023-2024 School Year

You will receive two important emails this summer with information for the upcoming school year. The first message will be sent on Wednesday, July 5 and the second message on Wednesday, August 23.

Global Learning Leading Diploma

On Thursday June 1, 2023, successful graduating students were acknowledged for the completion of the Global Learning Leading Diploma (GLLD) program through the Forum for Change. Each student was awarded a pin as a symbol of their commitment and hard work in the program.

One of the intents of the program is to explore the world’s interconnectedness and the importance of fostering compassion, empathy and respect across cultures and boundaries. As a group, these individuals have delved into the issues that affect our world – from climate change and poverty to inequality and injustice. Each of the GLLD recipients have shown the ability to think critically and propose innovative approaches that bridge divides and foster unity.

The Forum for Change will open up applications to the program for students in grades 10 and 11 in early Fall.

Used Technology Drive

Havergal will be hosting a used technology drive this year in partnership with reBOOT, an Ontario based organization that collects used technology and, after restoring it, donates it to non-profits, community centres, and people with limited access to technology. Bring your used technology (iphones, ipads, computers, etc – please see image for more information) to the HC Rotunda on Wednesday June 14 from 8:30am – 12:00pm (the same time and date as used textbook collection). We will also be collecting your used devices in the HC Driveway from 7:30am – 8:30am so you can easily drop off your donations without having to come into the building.

For information on how to wipe your device to protect your privacy before donation please click LINK.  Please note that reBOOT will also wipe the devices when restoring them, but if it makes you feel more comfortable to do so, you can do it yourself before donating.
