UPPER SCHOOL
Final Exam Schedule and Conflicts
As we return to final evaluations (culminating assessments and exams), parents and students are reminded that the timing of these is not negotiable.
Students who know they will be away because of a sporting event should speak to their guidance counsellor as soon as they can to have an exam rescheduled. If it is a culminating assignment, they must speak to their teacher before missing the deadline. Missed final exams must be written before report cards and final marks can be issued. We are looking for parental support to make sure students are not missing these important deadlines.
MIDDLE SCHOOL
Grade 7 and 8 TPH Immunization Clinic
On Friday, May 26, Toronto Public Health will be hosting a grade 7 and 8 immunisation clinic for eligible students. If your daughter received one dose of the vaccine at school in the fall, she does not require another consent form. However, if this is your first dose of the vaccine, she will need this consent form completed. If you are interested in your daughter receiving the vaccine, please print, sign and return the printed consent to your Form teacher by May 11th.
Final COSSOT Dance of the Year
BSS will hold the final COSSOT dance of the year on Friday May 26th, 7-9:30pm. This dance is open to students who have not previously attended a COSSOT dance. The theme of the dance is Pride and the students are welcome to dress in festive attire. If extra tickets are available, we will open up the tickets on a first come first served basis on Friday May 12th. The link to the BSS dance can be found HERE.
Alex Russell Visits Havergal
On Tuesday May 16th we will host a morning coffee with the Head of Middle School and our guest Alex Russel. Alex Russel is “a clinical psychologist who helps children develop resilience and their own personal relationship with school and achievement.” This event is open to Grade 7 and 8 parents. For more information about Alex you can visit his website HERE. An email will be sent later this evening with the registration link.
Wednesday Form Time
This week in Form time the students will be meeting with their teachers for their one on one conferences. This is a great opportunity for our students to share what they have been learning and the various activities that they have been involved in this term.
SENIOR SCHOOL
Wednesday Advising Time
In advising this week our Grade 9 and 10 student reps have planned fun activities and competitions to help build community within their grades. It’s never too late in the year to make a new friend! The Grade 11s will be learning the song they need to sing in the Candlelight Ceremony. This traditional, student-only ceremony that passes the torch from the graduating class to their younger counterparts is a long standing tradition. All grade 11 & 12 students wear white to this event on June 15.
Finally, our Grade 12 will have the opportunity to learn some basic car maintenance from our maintenance team! There will be stations featuring jumping a battery, adding washer fluid, checking tire pressure and adding air. It will not include filling up the car with gas and paying for it.
