Dear Parents,
As students settle into the routine of school there are new things for them to balance. Clubs, sports teams, and outside commitments have now been added to the academic load. Some students thrive with this added challenge and others need to take a moment to revisit and reset their commitments. Please know that we are here to help support your child, talk through their commitments, and work out plans to help them be their best selves.

Unsanctioned Semi-Formal Event – plus a list of Sanctioned Events
It has recently come to our attention that there is an unsanctioned semi-formal dance taking place this weekend at the Luxy Club in Vaughan. Please note that this is not a Havergal College sanctioned event. There will be no Havergal College staff supervision. We encourage you to speak to your child regarding the possible risks of attending an unsupervised event, and safe partying. We are not able to vouch for any procedures or measures that may be in place at that event.
These unsantioned events happen throughout the year and we can not guarantee that we will be able to let you know about each one. But you can click this link for a list of sanctioned events that are hosted by schools. This is a live document and will be updated as we receive more information from other CIS and COSSOT schools.

Your child’s October Learning Skills Report Card will be available through a link on the Parent Portal beginning October 25th at 4pm. Please follow the instructions outlined in this letter from Ms. Davis, VP of Teaching & Learning. If you have any questions please contact her at Ms. Davis.

Wellbeing
This year’s Wellbeing Council has been assembled. Consisting of ten students from grades 7-12, council members will work to integrate student voice into Wellbeing programming at Havergal. Whether it’s helping to plan activities for our upcoming Thrive Week or gathering student input on how best to build student engagement, learning and leadership in mental health, the Wellbeing council will be an invaluable asset to our school community. Thank you to all the students who expressed an interest in the Wellbeing Council. The first meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, October 19th, at noon, in B19.

Students in Havergal’s music program sang, bowed and blew to their hearts’ content in the beautiful Campfire Circle setting for the past three days. They returned home this afternoon, as more proficient musicians and most definitely happy – and maybe a little tired – campers.
