Upper School College Blog – Friday, April 29, 2022

Dear Parents,

The springtime is always a busy time of year for Havergal, but with many events starting back up after a two year hiatus, it is especially true this spring. One event that our students eagerly signed up for was the COSSOT (Coalition of Single-Sex Schools of Toronto) Relay for Life held at UCC on Thursday. Over 200 Havergal students participated and the event raised more than $185,000 for The Canadian Cancer Society. Our students worked together and had fun while raising funds for a worthy cause. Another eagerly anticipated event is the Havercrest Middle School Social being held at Crescent School this afternoon, where 130 Havergal students are signed up for fun and games while making new friends.

We’re thrilled to see our students joining in on these opportunities and are incredibly thankful for the work that our faculty, staff, and student leaders have put into organizing these initiatives. Please enjoy all of the photos at the bottom of this blog that highlight some of the events that have taken place over the past two weeks.

The US Blog contains information and updates on the following:

Sincerely,

JJ Patterson, Head of Middle School

Deirdre Timusk, Head of Senior School

Upper School Fall Trips

We recognize that students have not been able to participate in school-related trips and experiences over the past two years. With this in mind, we have built a program that is unique for the 2022-2023 school year as we begin to build back the social and relationship experiences that help build a great experience here at Havergal.

The aim of these trips is to facilitate new friendships and strengthen relationships between students in each grade. In addition, leadership skills will be developed in an age appropriate manner. Please click on this link to learn more.

Ramadan – Food Drive

For the month of Ramadan, Muslim communities often act charitably to give to those in need. This special act represents thankfulness to God for helping them complete their month of fasting. Sunday marks the end of Ramadan and Eid will be celebrated on May 2nd. You can wish an “Eid Mubarak” to your friends and colleagues who have fasted during this holy month.

This year, the Muslim Student Affinity group (MSA) has set up boxes around the school for a school food drive. Please contribute with dry or canned goods. The last date to bring food is Wednesday, May 4
